Job Description

The Rover Resource Center is funded through a PHS contract with the California Department of Public Health, Tobacco Prevention Program (CTPP). Supervised by the Academic Program Management Officer, this position is responsible for providing administrative support to Rover staff. Specific duties include but are not limited to managing lists for e-mail newsletters and user passwords; communicating with users who need help accessing the password protected website; scheduling meetings, distributing agendas, and taking notes; and providing clerical support to the Rover staff. Contact with resource center users is primarily through e-mail, text, and telephone. This 100% time, career position is a grant-funded position with an end date of June 30, 2027 for funding purposes only.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Valid California Driver's License
  • High school education or equivalent experience.
  • Experience providing public/customer service and/or information/technical assistance services.
  • Experience with database list management, organizing/maintaining accounts, records and/or files.
  • Experience compiling data for reports and spreadsheets.
  • Competency and ability to use a personal computer and various computer software (Excel, Word) and web-based information/database systems, Microsoft Office, social media tools.
  • Consistent attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal telephone communication skills to communicate with resource center patrons throughout California.
  • Ability to prioritize work, handle multiple tasks, and adapt to changing needs.
  • Ability to travel locally to offsite meetings/events.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience providing assistance in a virtual/remote setting.
  • Experience supporting a diverse committee with representatives from a variety or organizations (e.g., UC Davis, state government, non-profit organizations).
  • Familiarity with the calendar feature in Microsoft 365.

The mission of the Department is to improve the health of people using approaches based in epidemiology, biostatistics, economics, and behavioral science through research, educational programs, clinical programs, public service, and policy development.

Physical Demands and Work Environment
