Job Description

This position is a Designated Breast Ultrasound role within the Breast Imaging section at the Ellison Ambulatory Care Center (ACC). The dedicated breast ultrasound technologist will support mammography by performing ultrasound-only needs and/or additional targeted ultrasound needs during a patient's diagnostic exam experience. They will support ultrasound biopsies as needed. This role will support and collaborate with the Senior Mammography technologists with the department's higher-level exam needs. They will perform ultrasound breast and axillary exams, and correlate targeted ultrasound needs with mammogram images from attending breast radiologists to ensure the highest quality and compliance with the department. They will be a resource for training and growth to create excellence in breast imaging with our Mammography section team members who perform breast ultrasound exams.

Minimum Qualifications

  • American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) or UC Davis Health CPR required.
  • Experience as a sonographer, with experience of principles of ultrasound physics, and the propagation of ultrasound through tissues.

Breast Ultrasound Certification (At least one of the following credentials are required)

  • American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) Breast Specialty (BR) OR American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) Breast Sonography (BS)

Department Description

The Department of Radiology is a 24-hour, seven day a week operation providing Imaging Services to adult and pediatric inpatient and outpatients. This position is a designated breast ultrasound role within the radiology mammography section at the Ellison Ambulatory Care Center (ACC).

Physical Demands and Work Environment

  • Must be able to work variable hours, alternate shifts, and occasional overtime to provide coverage as needed for sick leave, staffing shortages, etc.
