As an Assistant Roadway Construction Inspector at TYLin, you'll be at the forefront of overseeing the construction of cutting-edge roadways, transit systems, railroads, bridges, and transportation structures. Your role will be pivotal in ensuring that projects adhere to design specifications and guidelines, guaranteeing the safety and efficiency of our transportation networks. The location will be based out of the Stockton, California Area but may require travel around various regions in Central California.

Responsibilities & Qualifications

Your day-to-day responsibilities will involve:

  • Proactive Oversight: You will determine the best procedures and meticulously inspect materials to maintain the highest quality standards.

  • Team Collaboration: Engage in agency coordination efforts, working seamlessly with our skilled team members to execute a sequence of related engineering tasks.

  • Quality Assurance: You'll review and provide recommendations to address nonconformance situations and change management events, contributing to the continuous improvement of our projects.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Apply standard techniques, procedures and criteria to carry out tasks as part of a broad range of project assignments.

  • Inspect new and existing major roadways and highway projects as well as public works projects.

  • Inspect incorporated materials.

  • Support contract compliance with plans, specifications, and regulations.

  • Assist in setup and maintenance of master project files.

  • Assist in the resolution of design/coordination issues.

  • Monitor contractor's work progress and schedule.

  • Attend various meetings, facilitate various meetings, and prepare meeting minutes.

  • Interpret contract specifications and special provisions.

  • Measure and document work performed by contractor.

  • Assist in project close-out.

  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS (INCLUDING EDUCATION and/or JOB EXPERIENCE):

  • High School Degree required. Bachelor's degree in engineering or closely related field is preferred.

  • Minimum of 4+ years experience working in roadway construction inspection for highway or major public works.

  • One (1+) year of Range B Junior Engineering Technician in State service.

  • Demonstrated experience with concepts and practices related to complex engineering and construction infrastructure projects is required.

  • Current OSHA 30-hour safety course preferred.

Additional Information

TYLin is committed to pay equity. As part of that commitment, we have provided the base compensation range of$36.00 - $54.00 hourly for this position and local market.
