Overview

SECTOR OVERVIEW

Our Environmental Sector delivers comprehensive environmental solutions to meet the full project lifecycle needs of clients in renewable energy, oil - gas, transportation, and manufacturing industries. With one of the largest multimedia air and land permitting and compliance teams in the country, we support client success in manufacturing and industry, liquids delivery and processing, natural gas storage and delivery, power generation and delivery, and transportation projects.

POSITION SUMMARY

TRC has an opening for an on-call/as needed Archaeological Field Director to support our projects in California, and beyond.

This person will work on large-scale and small-scale projects throughout the West Coast and other regions within TRC. We are looking for an individual enthusiastic about his/her work with a strong commitment to client service and technical excellence. The successful candidate will enjoy the challenges of working alongside others in a fast-paced environment and of helping to develop effective solutions to both expected and unexpected project challenges. This position will require frequent travel away from the home office.


Responsibilities

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES - TASKS

  • Direct all types of archaeological projects, ranging from small local surveys through large, multi-year projects.
  • Handle planning, logistics, and supervision of fieldwork for projects.
  • Author reports, under the direction of the Project Manager/Principal Investigator.
  • Promote TRC safety and quality standards, policies and procedures and ensure field employee safety.
  • Ensure that all work and data collected are accurate, organized, and of high quality.
  • Abide by Company policies and procedures.
  • Excellent communication skills, including writing, editing, peer-reviewing, public speaking.
  • Ability to accomplish tasks in a timely manner, with a track record of meeting deadlines and budgets and producing high quality reports.
  • A commitment to safety.
  • Familiarity with digital data recordation and management.
  • Development and implementation of budgets, research designs, work plans, schedules, analyses and reporting.
  • Other duties and special projects as assigned.

Qualifications

Qualifications

  • Graduate degree (M.A. or Ph.D.) in anthropology, archaeology, history, architectural history, historic preservation, architecture, or closely related field;
  • 10 or more years' experience of progressive experience in the archaeology and/or architectural history of California and the surrounding regions.
  • Meet the Secretary of Interior's Professional Qualifications for Archaeology, History, Architectural History, or Historic Architecture.
  • Previous project experience working on federal (e.g., BLM, USFS, NPS, ACOE, BIA) and state lands (e.g. State Parks).
  • Regional experience that would allow for immediate permitting with the local offices of federal agencies (e.g. BLM, USFS, BOR, etc.) and obtaining other permits as needed.
  • Knowledge of state and federal regulations, environmental review processes, and compliance requirements (e.g., Section 106).
  • Demonstrated marketing success and client retention.
  • Previous experience working with utility clients.
  • A valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Successful completion of a background check and drug screen.
  • Abide by Company policies and procedures.
  • Other duties and special projects as assigned.

Compensation will vary based upon experience, education, skill level, and other compensable factors

In accordance with local law, the following compensation range is applicable for the job and location associated with this requisition: $30-$35/hr. Compensation will vary based upon experience, education, skill level, and other compensable factors.

Salary Range

USD $30.00 - USD $35.00 /Hr.
