Overview

Global Engagement Office
The Global Engagement Office continues to improve and strengthen its commitment to advance the international perspective in the teaching, research and outreach programs of the University of California, Davis so that citizens, students and faculty may better understand how to meet global challenges more effectively.

NATURE AND PURPOSE
The Academic Coordinator II position we are seeking will administer an academic program that provides service closely related to the teaching and research mission of the University. This service will be provided to the College of Agricultural and Environmental Science's Global Engagement Office. The program scope and complexity are given briefly in the next section.

SUMMARY
Under the direction of the Principal Investigator and Associate Dean, CA&ES Global Engagement, the Academic Coordinator II takes lead responsibility in administration of a range of functions associated with multinational and multi-institution research project, which includes research synthesis and analysis, external relations, strategic communication, and making sure milestones are met in the project supported by Global Methane Hub (GMH). The project is complex because multiple collaborators are working on different aspects of the project and need to be coordinated in such a way that there is a smooth flow of information among partners. There is a need to design and implement special events, such as conference and workshop series, stakeholder gatherings, and interdisciplinary domestic and international projects and delegations. The Academic Coordinator II needs to develop and maintain relationships with regional, national, and international partners in academia, industry, and the public sector. In addition, he/she needs to develop project management plans, execute projects and follow up on deliverables. Write a proposal for continuation of the project based on outcomes and identify opportunities to leverage the activities of the project.

Finally, the person in the position is expected to develop and conduct focused activities and programs that meet the needs of the participants and fulfill the expectations of the sponsoring agency. He/she will be responsible in tracking the budget, analysis and evaluation of the completed programs and writing final reports.

Job Responsibilities

Program Coordination and Implementation (75%)
Responsible for the administrative and programmatic coordination, including but not limited to planning, design, logistics, and implementation, and direct oversight and management of project activities, including subawards issued to partners, cognizant and respectful of customs and cultures of global partners as well as ensuring compliance to university and sponsor operating rules and procedures. Subject matters are typically specialized and include aspects of sustainable agricultural production and management through improved livestock nutrition and reduction of greenhouse gas emissions. Work with campus technical experts and global partners for technical content preparation and best practices of delivery. Work with Project Investigator to create comprehensive action plans on activities, resources, budget and time frames for the project. Monitor activities and coordinate all team members to keep workflow on track and submit deliverables in a timely fashion. Write grants that will align with the project.

Plan and manage team goals, project schedules and any new information. Design and prepare educational materials focusing on project's technical areas; develop presentations and briefings to present and interpret for a diverse group of participants on project activities focusing on improving livestock nutrition for food security and reducing gas emissions using the feed formulation software. Synthesize data coming from partners and engage in publication of research in peer reviewed journals. Partner and liaise with stakeholders and experts on instructional design. Advise project staff of available resources for particular focus of the project. Develop and establish assessments for service and program improvement. Provide summary reports as requested by the funding agency.

Review literature collection for trends through improved livestock nutrition and reduction of greenhouse gas emissions. Use professional meetings and industry visits to expand knowledge and resource base for program development and implementation. Establish & manage collection of program data for feedback from program and campus officials and sponsors.

Assume overall responsibility for engagement with appropriate campus staff and stakeholders. Manage and monitor program budgets to guarantee appropriateness and accuracy. Provide analytical and strategic planning support and advise the Project Investigator on proposed outreach activities of the projects. Oversee budget projections and analyze fiscal transactions to ensure their appropriateness.

Professional Competence (15%)
The AC will participate in nationally and internationally recognized scholarly activities related to the focus topics and interests of the Global Methane Hub project. S/he must participate in internationally recognized workshops and meetings representing the Global Methane Hub project and CA&ES GEO. S/he will assimilate scholarly information, write reports, and present activity results and impact assessments to the university, donor organizations and stakeholders.

University and Public Service (10%)
Work with CA&ES communications team to develop and implement strategic communication platform for the project. Together with the global partners, promote the project using the agreed-upon communication platform. Create presentation and briefing materials. Design and manage project website, maintain and enhance presence on social media platforms as allowed by the sponsor. Advise the Project Investigator of new opportunities to enhance visibility and exposure. The AC will also participate in campus committees and in the community, as appropriate representing the project, GEO and CA&ES.

Qualifications
Basic qualifications (required at time of application)

* Master's degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience.
* Minimum 3 years in program or project management.
* Comprehensive experience in understanding of university, center, and institute policies
* Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects with minimal supervision.
* Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
* Proven experience collaborating with various partners, international and domestic
* Analytical and strategic planning experience
* Proficient writing and computer skills
* Cultural sensitivity and awareness

Preferred qualifications (other preferred, but not required, qualifications for the position)

* PhD degree in a relevant field
* Exceptional relationship-building skills with key stakeholders
* Prior experience working closely with relevant academic faculty and staff
* Familiarity with university and community resources
